PIANO LESSONS

Our one-to-one piano lessons are perfect for children and adults. The minimum age for children is 6. We first have a pre-arranged discussion to decide which pathway you prefer to take - either lessons focused on learning popular songs along with theory and music notation or if you prefer the path of lessons in full preparation for graded exams. We can also discuss whether a blended approach is more suitable.

We offer 2 lessons types weekly: 30-minute or 60-minute lessons. 30 minute is the standard lesson time. If a blended learning approach is adopted, 60-minute classes are spilt in two parts. One part focused on graded exam prep and the other part focused on learning contemporary songs and performance.

The duration of lessons depends on the age and level of the student and can be adjusted according to individual preferences.

Every lesson begins with some technical exercises such as scales and chords to develop correct techniques and in preparation for exams. The remainder of lessons then focus on examination pieces or the chosen contemporary songs if non-examination path is chosen. Students are encouraged to express their own interest in music and suggest tunes that they would like to learn.

FAQ

TERMS OF ENROLMENT

Enrolment is by the term only.

Where a lesson is cancelled by the teacher, that lesson shall be refunded or replaced by the teacher.

Lessons missed or cancelled by the student, for any reason, are neither replaceable nor refundable, other than at the sole discretion of the teacher.

Where the student or teacher wishes to do so, enrolment may be ended at any time during the term, four weeks in advance.

DO I NEED A PIANO/KEYBOARD AT HOME FOR THE LESSONS?

Yes. Lessons take place at Dublin Music Factory premises but students need to have a piano or keyboard or guitar at home to undertake weekly practice and make significant progress.

If you have a piano, make sure it is tuned regularly. We can advise on basic maintenance and also recommend a piano tuner if needed.

In regards to guitarists, we can advise on maintenance and upkeep.

LESSONS DURING THE BANK HOLIDAYS OR MID-TERM BREAKS?

Each term is based on the School Calendar, so we don’t teach during the Bank Holidays, Christmas and Easter Holidays, Mid-term breaks, etc.

Monday students with lessons missed due to Bank Holidays have reduced term fees. The affected period in this calendar year is from January to June.
